2010 Turnout

At my precienct in Virginia (highly educated professionals and desperatley poor minority, very Democratic) turnout at 2:30 was under 2008, but about 1/3 over 4 years ago. Turnout in New York is reported as "high" for an off year.

FOX raises rates, may lose markets

Today FOX news refused binding arbritration in their dispute of fees from Cablevision. Cablevision says Newscorp (FOX) is demanding a fee increase from about $70 million to $150 million. TimeWarner and Dish have experienced similar disputes with Newscorp.

Iowa Primary Results

The Democrats had a three way race for the honor of facing U.S. Senator Charles Grassley (R) in November. Roxanne Conlin, a Des Moines attorney easily carried that contest, winning 78% of the vote. Conlin has recently outraised Grassley significantly, mostly with small donors.

Thus far in the Gulf oil spill there have been 1.2 million feet of containment boom placed, 900,000 feet in the Mobile area. 3.5 million more feet are scheduled. There seems to be ever increasing incidents of vandalism to these booms.
